40s Themed Photo Shoot for Mom's Day!

I had such a successful shoot today and I am excited to share my wonderful experience! Today I did a shoot with a mother (Ashley) and daughter (Carys) that were such a delight to work with. You can tell from the shoot how much fun they had together. What a great pair! I would also like to mention that today I had a new assistant with me who did a fabulous job; Miss Danielle. She has been my subject in the past and wanted to get a feel for the other side of the camera. I think she enjoyed the experience! Scouting New Sites

I have several shoots booked in the upcoming months (YAY!) and I am scouting new sites to shoot. A few in the area I was thinking of are Irvine Park, Casa Romantica, and Goldenrod Footbridge. They are all visually stimulating. Stay tuned as I will post pictures of them as soon as the shoots are complete.

I would also like to take a moment to announce that I am now on Twitter. Please follow me if you have an account AdreilingPhoto I appreciate it!

As always I thank you in advance for your support!

Secrets Maroma Beach

I would like to dedicate this post to the Secrets Resort Maroma Beach. I recently went there on my honeymoon and found it to be the most picturesque place I have ever been. The resort was definitely a 5 star and had excellent service. The picture you see is just one of the many pictures I shot while on my stay. If you would like to learn more about this amazing resort I stayed at, please visit their website www.secretsresorts.com

I tied the knot! :)

A lot of questions have been asked since I tied the knot with Wes if I will be changing my business name. The answer is no. I feel I have established a brand in my last two years of business and therefore I think I will keep it the same. I guess this means the Dreiling name will live on! :) If I were to change my business name though, I think I would call it Marionberry Photography. What do you think?

Support a Good Cause

Although we all know that this a photography blog, I am writing this post today to announce a marathon runner (who happens to be my sister), who wrote a beautifully worded letter about the cause she is supporting, why she is running, and why she needs YOU! The cause she is running for is cancer. An extremely common illness that we all know well in some form or another. So all I am asking is that you please take a moment read her letter, click on her link, and maybe just maybe make a donation. Remember, it is not only a great cause, it supports a determined young woman, and is a tax write-off. Think about it! I thank you all in advance for your support.

Her Note:

Dear Friends and Family

I never thought I, Catherine Dreiling, would ever even ATTEMPT to run 26.2 miles, but sure enough I am embarking on an incredible feat. This June I am participating in the San Diego Rock N Roll marathon. I am a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training and we all work together to raise funds to support cancer research that will hopefully lead to a cure someday.

As you may know, I am a second year at UC Santa Barbara and I am apart of Delta Gamma, a sorority on campus. I was initially presented with the idea of running this marathon last year by one of my sorority sisters and laughed. Literally. Twelve months later and I am lacing up my running shoes every Saturday morning and hitting the pavement for as long as my little legs can handle. It has not been easy, I will tell you that much, but there are so many benefits to running this marathon. For one, it is benefitting all those unfortunate enough to face the threat of cancer.

We all have family members who have suffered from some form of cancer, my own family endured a terrible loss in June of 2008. My grandpa, the rock of my family, the man I always knew as being a hero, lost his fight against cancer. I know that my participation in this marathon would make him proud and I can only hope that the funds I raise will help prevent any family from losing such an influential relative.

Here is where you come in. I can't possibly raise these funds by myself and I need your help!! No donation is too small and your support will really motivate me in completing this marathon. It is super easy to donate online and you can just click the big ol button that says , wait for it, DONATE NOW. That's right, super easy! Just go to http://pages.teamintraining.org/los/rnr11/cdreiling and everything will be clear from there. You may also send checks to me at 6522 DEL PLAYA UNIT A, Isla Vista CA 93117 and those can be made payable to LLS.

It would mean the world to me and all of those who suffer from Leukemia, please don't hesitate to make your donation today, I will be unable to run in the marathon if I don’t reach my goal! Also, I will be updating my website frequently so don't forget to check it out!!

Your marathon runner,
Cath

Donald Rumsfeld

I recently did an event with Donald Rumsfeld. It was a great event and taught me a lot. I now know I need new equipment! All technicalities aside, I would like to say that Mr. Rumsfeld was an extremely pleasant and personable man. It was an honor to be asked to shoot this event by the wonderful staff at Gen-Next. He was warm, friendly, and very knowledgeable. I posted some of the pictures on my flickr and I welcome you to preview them! Feedback is always appreciated. Thank you for your continued support as I progress further on my photographic journey!

Updates Are Here!

Lately, I have been learning a lot about social media marketing and one thing I have recently learned is branding. It is extremely important to have brand recognition, and as a result, I have been working on that aspect of my business! Check out my new layout on here and my website. Everything is all matched together to provide the ultimate branding. Even my business cards match! What do you think? Feedback is always valued!

2011 Updates are here!

Recently I updated my website with a few minor changes, updated my pricing, and got some new equipment! I am ready to kick off the new year! I have a few weddings booked this year which I am really excited about, and several shoots on the list. The only thing I need to do now, is plan an excursion to get some new travel shots in. Maybe my upcoming honeymoon to the Mexican Riviera will be the place. As always, feedback is valued! Thank you for all of your continued support! I want this year to be the best year yet! Let's make it happen!
